Entering Nomad-Land

"Nomads" (1986)

This movie is one of those ones that doesn't live up to it's description. In this film Pierce Brosnan plays a frenchman who has decided to retire and move to America to eat hamburgers. Shortly afterwards he begins to follow Adam Ant and his crew of "nomads"

The movie isn't this simple however, it gets complicated when the movie opens with what would be the ending of the story. Then we are forced to watch this talentless actress re-live all of what happened to our french friend Pierce.

Nothing really happens, and it was confusing and boring all the way through, with the exception of the ending. It closes with a shot of Pierce Brosnon decked out in 80s style punk gear and riding a motorcycle, and apparently he can't leave California.

Death to the Demoness Allegra Geller!

"eXistenZ"
(1999)
Directed by: David Cronenberg

This movie was a lot like "Inception", but better. In the way that "Inception" has people entering dreams within dreams, this movie is about people playing games within games only with weird controllers that plug into a 2nd butt-hole and then you play with it's weird nipples.

The main character, played by a very young Jude Law, was an insecure loser and not the usual role for him.
As result a number of humorous moments and quotes come from this role. Particularly if he made an outburst in frustration or anger.

This movie also has a small role for Willem Dafoe, who plays a mechanic named "Gas". In the movie he installs black-market "bio-ports". (These are the butt-holes referred to above.) While it was a small role, it's always good to see Dafoe in a movie. Though, putting his name on the cover was a bit much considering his small contribution to the film.

Well that's the review of eXistenZ

In closing, it was a decent film. Worth a few chuckles, and being a gamer it was rather interesting.

Simply Irreversible

Irreversible (2002)

The first thing to say about this movie is that it wasn't worth finishing. This film comes to us from France, and while some movies like "In My Skin" & "Inside" were interesting enough to finish, this one couldn't even make it half way.

There are a few things you should know about this movie. First off it starts at the end of the plot and moves itself backwards, which is very confusing. The camera throughout the whole film is reminiscent of films like "Cloverfield" and the Blair Witch Project, it was ten times worse at least. I don't even get motion sickness and I felt a little nauseous.

In the first few minutes of the film you are treated to a near naked old man, the dark underside of a gay club, as well as someone being brutally murdered with a fire extinguisher. There was a lot of talk of fisting, and it was strange and confusing. it was very quiet except for the horrid humming music they put in the background.

So here is the half ass review of "Irreversible". In conclusion the only thing that is irreversible is what you will see.

If you are interested in gay fisting, enjoy puking from both nausea and motion sickness. Pick up "Irreversible" at your closest french film retailer.

This song continually comes to mind after watching this weird foreign film.

Enjoy...
